AWE Business Strategy

AWE's Vision for Sustainable Organic Waste Solutions

AWE was established to address the growing demand for sustainable organic waste management solutions, aiming to eliminate the reliance on landfill disposal in Australia and Southeast Asia.

  • Australia’s new organic waste regulations will significantly and permanently transform the way organic waste is managed nationwide. (Refer to The National Food Waste Strategy Feasibility Study.)

  • Recognising a critical gap in affordable regional energy and organic waste solutions, AWE has identified a pressing need and strong community demand across both Southeast Asia and regional Australia.

  • After extensive research into global anaerobic digester (AD) technologies, AWE selected a cutting-edge U.S.-based technology, securing an exclusive extended license for its application in Australia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia.

  • While the adoption of anaerobic digestion technology has gained traction in Europe, the USA, and the UK, its implementation in Australia and Southeast Asia has been slow. AWE views this as a substantial commercial opportunity to lead the transition in these regions.

  • Existing renewable energy solutions often overlook organic waste management challenges and fail to address the regional energy needs of local businesses and communities. These gaps have direct and adverse environmental impacts.

  • By effectively leveraging anaerobic digestion technology, AWE aims to deliver innovative organic waste management systems alongside affordable, decentralised energy solutions. This approach will empower regional communities and local businesses throughout Southeast Asia and regional Australia.

  • Key target markets in Southeast Asia include Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. These nations are home to significant populations where regional energy infrastructure and organic waste management remain critically under served.

Business Activity Plan in Australia and SE Asia

In identifying our AD projects AWE will have several options available:

a) Build, Own and Operate the project,

b) Build and Operate the project for a third party,

c) A combination of the above.

AWE Digester Technology

AWE holds a licensed Induced Blanket Reactor technology for Australia, SE Asia and East Asia. This technology offers advantages over many other digester technologies, namely:

  • Faster processing of the waste

  • Achievement of a higher CNG (compressed natural gas) yield

  • Achieves a higher percentage destruction of solids

  • Requires a smaller plant footprint

  • The process is a continuous 24/7/365 process

AWE Project Process

Every AWE Anaerobic Digester (AD) project is tailored to meet specific needs, considering the unique characteristics of the waste material and the intended energy output - whether compressed natural gas (CNG) or electricity.

Stages of building an Anaerobic Digester (AD):

  1. Project MOU Agreement: Establish a Memorandum of Understanding to outline the project scope and objectives

  2. Waste Assessment: Confirm the source, type and volume of waste to ensure project feasibility

  3. Technical Waste Analysis: Perform a comprehensive analysis of the waste material and develop pre-digester treatment methodology

  4. Energy Revenue Stream Validation: Confirmation the revenue model for energy output, whether CNG or electricity

  5. Site Review & Plant Design: Conduct a site evaluation, design the plant layout and finalise project costing

  6. Contract Finalisation: Complete formal agreements to move the project forward

  7. Regulatory Approvals: Apply for and secure all necessary regulatory permits and approvals

  8. Construction and commissioning: Build and commission the AD plant readying it for operation
